Confidence is an especially important quality to develop in a child, teen and adult. It strengthens the body from inside out. People who have improved confidence have greater success in school and the workplace. It is your first line of defense in a self defense confrontation. Let's check out three simple ways to boost your confidence.
Use positive self-talk. Words are very powerful. They can help us succeed -OR- lead us to failure. Try to think positively. Learn to celebrate when you accomplish a task. When things are not going your way, try a simple phrase like "I'm only getting warmed up". Remember, positive self talk can build your confidence! Go ahead and give positive self talk a try, and you will be on your way to a more confident you.
Try to challenge yourself. Set small but realistic goals. Take pride in your accomplishments. Learn to feel good about yourself when you accomplish goals. Remember: Goals we set are goals we get!
Embrace the journey. One of the most important ways to gain confidence is to have multiple good experiences while performing tasks. When a student attends a karate class for the first time, it is very normal to feel nervous. Soon, the excitement of experiencing the I CAN DO attitude takes over and the nerves subside. A more confident YOU has emerged.
